I’ve been remiss in not telling you all about something nifty I did at the onset of the summer. Thanks to the good graces of Mike Churchill, owner of Pulp Nouveau Comix in Canandaigua, NY, and the organizational powers of old teammates Tom Galambos and Greg Lendeck, and awesome newcomer Ben Morey (my cousin, natch), we were able to put together a sequel to the Instances art show we installed at Nazareth College back in February.

Instances 2, which involves another artistic interplay mural–this time painted all over Pulp’s front window space–has been up all summer. I should be up for a little while longer, so if you’re in the area this month, take a drive to Canandaigua, enjoy the changing leaves, and check out Instances 2 at Pulp Nouveau.

Have a look at some in-progress shots of the mural space over at my flickr page.

If you live in the western New York area, there are now two good ol’ fashioned comic book shops you can visit to pick up a copy of Odori Park: East Marries West. The first collection of Odori Park strips is now on sale at Park Avenue Comics & Games, in Rochester (713 Park Ave., Rochester, NY, www.parkavenuecomics.com), and at Pulp Nouveau Comix in Canandaigua (92 South Main St., Canandaigua, NY, www.pulpnouveau.com). If you’re in the neighborhood, please visit either of these fine establishments, where you can buy my book and completely avoid those pesky shipping fees.

Of course, if you’re not a local (or if you have a special love for shipping fees), you can always buy a copy through my online store. Please do either, or both, and enjoy!

So, coming up this Sunday, the 16th, Pulp Nouveau Comix is hosting the third annual Canandaigua Comic Con, at the Inn on the Lake (770 South Main St.), in Canandaigua, NY (my home town!), just a bit south of Rochester.

I’ll be in attendance–I’ve been looking forward to this all year–with books for sale, sketches to draw, and awkward cartoonist grins to dole out. Mike at Pulp Nouveau knows how to do a small con right! Each of the past two years, the show has been well-attended, and well-populated by plenty of comics folk, writers, and artists (so it’s not just table upon table of long-boxed back issues and bootlegged videos). I don’t do a lot of shows–this is only my second in 2011–so please come by! CanCon runs from 11am to 5pm. More info at the CanCon facebook page.
