The first panel is just brilliant. it seems over the last few weeks your art has really been sensational, I am totally hooked!

Nicely done! Actually reminds me of getting ready for a Halloween party of my own (which I don’t know if it’s happening or not at this point in time)!

How about a “Mensa Ring” remake! I could pretend that I was really smart (even though I would totally not get it) AND it would be scary (maybe)!

Yup gotta agree with John K the colours are spot on. The “The Ring” stand looks kinda ‘pasted’ into the first panel though. Anyway it adds to the spookiness.

John: Thanks! I feel like my art has improved recently. It must be all the drawing every day
I’m really glad you’re digging it!
Nate: Hope the party comes off. I remember, as a kid, going to Halloween parties at the funeral home across the street. They really went all out!
David: Thanks! I dig drawing her.
Spilled Ink: I have to imagine the MENSA version of the Ring would be very short: “Four kids died after watching a scary video!” “Bummer. Guess we better not watch that video.” The end.
speearr: Yeah, I agree. I didn’t want to let it fade into the rest of the background, but as it is, it does pop a little too much. Maybe greyed lineart would have helped pull it back a bit. Glad it helps the strip, regardless. Thanks for the feedback!

The Ring is the scariest movie that you cannot entice people with by explaining its premise, LOL. Sounds sooooo lame, but it’s actually good! The original wasn’t nearly as scary, but the difference between the 2 was an interesting lesson in culture.

Your art is getting better by leaps and bounds (not that you were a slouch to begin with. You know what I mean).

Wow, two Ring recommends in the same weekend. I guess I’m renting it

dgriff13: You’re right, it’s a hard sell
I think the American version had more shock and creep scares, but the original connected more on an emotional level to create a sense of growing dread. Definitely illustrative of the cultural differences–good point!
George: Thanks a bunch
David: ‘Tis the season for creepy movies! I’ve got a hankerin’ to rewatch Ghostbusters and Night of the Living Dead, too…

[...] or cursed video tapes, but I remember J. as a really nice guy. When I dug into drawing the Ring-themed strips you’ll be seeing this month, I thought I’d see if his site was still up. Lo-and-behold, [...]
